The Threatened Swan is an oil painting by Jan Asselijn, a famous artist from the Netherlands. The large white fowl is defending its nest and eggs from a dog attack. In modern times the work has become known as a symbol of Dutch national resistance, due to slogans and text added to the painting years after the artist painted it. This is the most famous of Asselijn's works; the original was the first painting acquired by what is now the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
